E'town Day

Elizabethtown Day "e'town day"

On January 21, 1997, a group of local citizens met with then Town Supervisor, Allen "Diney" Dickerson to discuss the Town's upcoming bicentennial birthday. A Bicentennial Committee was formed to plan a celebration for the Summer of 1998. Harvey Putnam and Allen Dickerson were named co-chairpersons, and the Celebration would happen on June 27, 1998. This was the first celebration of what we now call "e'town day."

E'town Day is the THIRD Saturday in July each year. This year it will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

Now, e'town day is a local holiday celebrated by many beyond the Elizabethtown community. Spear headed by the Elizabethtown Fire Department, this is a time for everyone to enjoy all that Elizabethtown has to offer. Many groups of people, class reunions, and family gatherings happen based around e'town day each year. The celebratory weekend starts when you arrive in town. The official festivities begin bright and early Saturday morning with town-wide yard sales that span from New Russia to Lewis and beyond. There is plenty of time for treasure hunting before the afternoon activities take over. The parade begins at 3:00pm, starting at the Adirondack History Museum, traveling down Court Street, commencing at the Cobble Hill Golf Course on the corner of High St (NYS Rt 9N) and Court St (US Rt 9). Once there, the real shindig begins! The Elizabethtown Fire Department can be found flipping burgers, sausage & peppers, and fried dough under the pavilion. The golf course transforms into a glorious park-like space to play, laugh and catch up with all the townspeople. The evening commences with Town-sponsored fireworks at dusk.
