Free Film at the Museum: Harvest of Shame
A TV documentary that exposed the harsh and exploitative conditions faced by migrant farmworkers in the U.S. It reveals how workers—many of them families with children—endured poverty wages, unsafe housing, child labor, and constant movement while remaining excluded from basic labor protections. The film contrasts America’s agricultural abundance with the invisibility and suffering of those who harvest the nation’s food, delivering a stark moral indictment of the system that allowed it.CBS/Edward R. Outdoor Community Soccer
A group dedicated to fostering a healthy lifestyle and building community through the game of soccer in Elizabethtown, NY. Come join a fun community group who just love playing soccer. Haven't played in a decade? Currently playing on your college team? Just need to get out of the house and move your body? Looking for a greater sense of community? YOU have found the right group! We are lucky enough to use the local Town-owned soccer field on Noble Terrace. Elizabethtown Adult Soccer Guidelines: We are happy to be an inclusive group of individuals looking to have FUN, exercise, and meet people in our area. We don't even keep score! We are a CO-ED group that gathers each week. Therefore, the crew is always changing and evolving. We DO NOT tolerate discrimination, excessive profanities, negative behavior toward others, or any actions that are hurtful to any other players. If such behavior is occurring, you will be asked NOT to play. We encourage you to join us from anywhere (not just etown/Lewis/Westport) if you live here full time, part time, or just visiting for a week. Please join us if you play for your school team, have NEVER played, haven't played in 25 years, or play in a summer league already. A lot of us are parents, and our children play in the areas around the field. Sometimes we can even get them to be our "ball kids," shagging the strays we kick a bit too far. Also, NYS laws apply to all of us, use your basic common sense please. Remember, the size of the field depends on how many players show each day. We aren’t playing on a regulation field unless we have enough people. Hope to see you on the field for the best season yet!
